So in summary, getting mugged sucks, NaNoWriMo is going to be kickass-awesome, and No World For Tomorrow by Coheed & Cambria is the most insanely badass and intensely awesome disc of music in the history of rock which completely blow everything else out of the water.
On that final note, with the return to Livejournal, so shall I return to my traditional signature, followed by a random song lyric except.
"Raise your hands high! Young brothers and sisters There's a worlds worth of work and a need for you Oh, the change is coming Feel these doors now close Is there no world for tomorrow If we wait for today?" -Coheed & Cambria, No World For Tomorrow

P.S. Kriston--Last time I posted, you said it wasn't long enough to count as a real update after so long...is this long enough of an entry for you? :P XD |

| | "The Suffering" -Coheed and Cambria | ] | First off, my home computer is working a bit better, so hopefully I'll be keeping in touch better. And since I've been fairly out of touch for a good while, Annie, Kriston, Laura, etc...you should all leave comments telling me where you're going to school this year and how you've been. :p
Anyhow...
Coheed and Cambria's new album "My Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV: Vol 1 From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness" totally rocks. "Welcome Home" has a nice, darkly ominous edge to it while the title track is far to cheerful and upbeat musically to be singing about killing and people burning in hell, yet somehow they make it work nicely anyhow. I thought their lyrics were cryptic and confusing before. In the first two albums, lead singer and lyriscist Claudio Sanchez stayed in the perspectives of the characters in the story he's been telling through their songs, but now he jumps randomly between character perspectives and his own perspective as the author of the story, making the lyrics even more cryptic and confusing than on the previous two albums. My favourite songs on the new album in order are: "The Suffering" "Welcome Home" "From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness" "Wake Up"
Moving on to other things... Folk Group retreat is coming around again and I couldn't possibly be more excited! It's been too long since I've had a good retreat. Yes, there was Antioch, but God Skwad just isn't the same as being a full retreat participant, and that had the damper of me getting into a quarrel with a good friend shortly afterwards that lasted for several months. |

| | "Neverender" -Coheed & Cambria | ] | So I probably don't have much time, so this will all be quick, short and rather erratic, but aren't my entries always erratic anyhow?
Anyhow, my band Down With Brown (me - rhythem guitar and backing vocals, my dad - lead guitar, my bro - keyboards, and my cousin's wife - lead vocals) will probably be playing at the May coffee house at St. nicks. Also, Eric and Dan will be playing an all-Coheed set I hear.
Speaking of bands, me Eric and Dan will probably be working on putting some music to the "Chronicles of the Ages Lost Refound" and other similar songs I'm working on this summer. I'm going for a Coheed/Mars Volta sound for these so Dan and Eric will be much better partners for this project than Down With Brown, who seems more interested in doing '70s covers than original material anyhow. I will have some of the lyrics for those new songs posted here as I finish them of course.
And speaking of original material, I finished "Everyone Wants to Be My Friend" a somewhat cheesy, but catchy song about bad luck with girls, but its kinda cool and not cheesy to the point of being a novelty song like leftover lover was. I'll try to get it up here soon. It will hopefully debut at the May coffee house as well.

| | "Baker's Daughter" -Subject to Change | ] | LMAO, I haven't posted on this in so long it took me five minutes to figure out where to go to post an update!
Main reason I haven't been online in ages (as most of you already know) is because my computer is a piece of shit and so most of my internet time comes when I get around to going out to the library.
Anyhow, right now I'm up to to my neck in shit and somehow I'm managing not to stress out, but I'm not sure if that's not simply because I work my way into these situations so often that I'm used to it and can handle it calmly or because I just don't care anymore or what. Anyhow, last night I was backing up real fast leaving from folk group rehearsal, something I like to do when the parking lot behind me is empty. Problem is, it wasn't really as empty as I had thought. There was still a car behind me that I didn't notice because my back window was fogged up and I THOUGHT I had gotten it clear enough to see that nothing was behind me, but apparently not...and guess who's car it was I slammed into? MY DAD'S!!!
On top of that, I've been spending money much faster than I've been making it since I got out of the army, mostly because of bills and such, so I really need a full time job. Fortunately, my tax returns will cover most of my current debt, owed mostly to my parents, but that was BEFORE I hit the car.
TO BE CONTINUED...
Picking back up where I left off...I actually wrote the above portion of this entry last Tuesday, but my time ran out on the library pc and I just got back...
So its now almost a week after the top half of this entry and still no job. I'm really hoping to get this gig with the Virginian Pilot as a Pop Music/Entertainment writer, but it seems a bit of a long shot.
I just bought Coheed and Cambria's "Live At The Starland Ballroom" CD/DVD set. The videos are pretty cool. Maybe I'll finally be able to learn the RIGHT way to play "Three Evils" by watching what Claudio does. But I think it was filmed at the end of a long and rigorous tour though; Claudio's voice is pretty horse, worse than when I saw them at the Norva. He sounded like he might even have been a bit sick.
Also, the videos for "Devil In Jersey City" and "Blood Red Summer" were pretty cool, but "Favor House Atlantic" sucked. "Atlantic" was just your typical cheesy music video with lots of women, performance clips, bars, and REALLY bad lip-syncing. "Devil" and "Summer" were pretty cool though, and they seemed like they might have been related to the story line, especially "Devil."
Sorry this was so long, but I forgot how to do the little "click to read more..." link thing. You know what I'm talking about. Well, I figured it out once, I can do it again; I just can't be arsed to do it NOW.
Oh yeah, James, if you're reading this and you haven't heard yet, Mrs. B. is retiring this summer!

| | CotALR 3: Aftermath | ] | I have finally finished the lyrics to the suite that preludes the novel I'm writing. Since the first two parts are so far back in my LJ, I included links here to make it easier to reread the first two parts in case anyone wants to: Chronicles of the Ages Lost Refound I: This Train Keeps Rolling Chronicles of the Ages Lost Refound II: The Head Explodes
And now, the third and final part of the suite....
Chronicles of the Ages Lost Refound III: Aftermath Waking from the nightmare just to find that it was real The horror shocks the senses numbing too much pain to feel The blackened night is falling as the curtain draws its close We survived though dead alive with no place left to go
Standing dazed by chaos all around and running wild The blood flows run in eyes and hide no paths will reconcile The ice-heart monsters celebrate in bloody revelry Falling back the failed attackers scatter and run free
Shattered fragments of the empire that once reigned Drift slowly now across the ruins Scattered embers from the bonfire that once blazed Are blowing out and into ruin
Left just a rodent's share We ought to move on but to where With no place to go nor a transport to show And no way to cover the fare
Rebuilding our hearts yearn For tables to once again turn The proud human race has been put in its place A favor we now must return
Winds rain down to snuff the match before the flame grows strong Darkness envelopes again the night as it grows long Folly thought that we would be allowed heal and grow Too strong too soon will mean our doom if enemies should know The ice-heart monsters celebrate in bloody revelry As we fall back from the attack and scatter running free
Shattered fragments of the empire that once reigned Drift slowly now across the ruins Scattered embers from the bonfire that once blazed Are blowing out and into ruin
So build blockades to break the winds We'll light the fire anew Keep smoke and light beneath the ground To hide the blaze from view Small sparks break through to fool the mind Of Blasting Wind and buy us time To secretly wait out the storm Until the flames renew
And changed we shall return With lessons that we learn To reclaim our place at the top of all space And the ice-heart usurpers shall burn! |

| | Last was "Gotta Get Drunk" by Willie Nelson | ] | Some of you might have heard from me at church or at Jack's going away party that I'm going to be joining the army. Well its official now. Monday I went to Richmond to take the ASVAB, get my physical, and pick a job. I got a 98 on the ASVAB test, so I was pretty much eligable for every job in the army, save the musician jobs (they require an audition).
I'm going to be a Signal Support Systems Specialist, which means I'll be working with communications equipment. If anyone wants a more detailed description, there is information here and here. I'm getting $50,000 from the Army College Fund that will be good until 10 years after my enlistment ends, and I get a $1000 sign on bonus. I was sworn in and signed my contract yesterday, and I ship out for Boot Camp on September 21 where I'll train to be "An Army Of One" ("e All You Can Be" sounded infanitly better than "An Army Of One" but whatever )
My initial enlistment is for 6 years (by my own decision). I'll still be around when I can though. I get 30 days of paid vacation every year, so I'll be back to visit every one occassionaly.
Anyhow, Daniel's here now, the weekend after next we're going to NC for a weekend-long cycling event sponsored by the Tidewater Bicycle Assosiation. Hopefully the riding will help me get in shape for boot camp. The weekend after that I'll be at Karate camp.
The book's coming along good.

| | Last was "Slings and Arrows" by the Moody Blues | ] | I haven't posted on this in a while, so there's going to be various things mentioned that have little or nothing to do with eachother and are thrown in here in a raandom rather than chronological order. So brace yourself.
This is my last term at ECPI. I've discovered rather painfully that professional programming is totally different from tinking around with small projects for my own use and that its not what I want to do. After this term I'm going to study for an A+ certifacation with my dad and work as an intern helping him at his job for a while and hopefully it will lead to a real job. Or I could just finish my book and get it published. In the meantime, I'm going to keep my job with Sunbelt, but I'm also going to get a job waiting tables at a restuaraunt after this term ends.
Speaking of my book, its coming along fairly well now. I'm actually working on the first chapter of the first book for once. And it has over four pages without a scene break. I'm improving every day.
I got a new bike. Its a road bike and it cost about $630. (No, I didn't pay for it myself) I wrecked it the first day and now the wheel needs realigning.
I'm not ending my entries with song quotes anymore unless I feel like it. Digging up a song excerpt that goes with the entry has been turning more into a chore than fun.
I heard a few of the tracks we recorded for the folk group album. We sound even better than we thought we would. Speaking of albums, Circadian (Eric and Hunter's band) now has a CD out. Everyone should get a copy.
All of my sunglasses have broken INCLUDING THE LEGENDARY GREEN HIPPIE GLASSES, so I bought a new pair at the dollar store yesterday. I will not clip this pair to my pocket and hopefully they won't break. Oh, and I plan to replace the Green Hippie Glasses with an even cooler pair of Red Hippie Glasses.

Yet they would have been right. People, I've been converted into a Bacci fan. James, Enver: we've got to do this again sometime.
Corona Light with a slice of lime is GOOD. Rob would have IDed me if I tried to get one from the cooler, but I found one someone left sitting around while we were sitting on the steps out front talking. Party was winding down when my dad called looking for me to go home because I had school the next day and it ws nearing midnight. I didn't go to school anyway until Wed this week.
The new job is good, much better than my last one. Not as fun as the construction job was last summer, but nowhere near as draining and the pay is better. It just seemed so wasteful to have to throw away an entire pitcher of perfectly good beer at the end of the night, but I had nothing to take any home in and I doubt they would have let me anyhow.
The Moody Blues concert was awesome. I was mildly dissapointed that they didn't bring an orchestra this year, but they still ruled. You could say it was a concert from my Wildest Dreams. :p ;)

| | "Seasons" -Good Charlotte | ] | So today I woke up feeling incompetant, miserable, overwhelmed, and all around emo. As the morning progressed, I was just feeling worse. I was in the middle of wondering why I seem to love wallowing in self-pity so much when "Seasons" happened to come on (rather predictable since I was listening to a Good Charlotte CD, but I wasn't paying much attention to the music until it came on). "Seasons" was a talk song from my first Antioch retreat. I played it about three times through and now I feel great. Thank God for Antioch. I need that occasional reminder that everything will work out fine if I just stop worrying so much.
Yesterday I bought a Styx music video DVD from Walmart. Good stuff overall; some of the videos were a bit cheesey, but then most music videos are.
And I FINALLY got a copy of "X-Wing 2: Wedge's Gamble" from the new Barnes and Nobles yesterday!!!! I'm now plunging my way through a reread of "X-Wing 1: Rogue Squadron" to refresh my memory before I start the second book.
And my classes are EASY so I should have no problem catching up by the end of the day thursday! And I'm going to be out of McDonald's soon! And making more money! And the Rush concert is coming up soon! And the Moody Blues and Styx and Peter Frampton next month! And I'm probably taking a term off from school this summer! And the folk group is RECORDING AN ALBUM! And that's just plain awesome! And hey--life really doesn't suck so long as I'm not telling myself it does!

| | "Too Much Time On My Hands" -Styx (oh the irony :P ) | ] | Yesterday: work until 7:00. Then I come home and read until about 3:00 am. Then I go to sleep
This morning: I wake up at 7:00 (after a mere four hours of sleep) and get ready for some bike-riding event we (meaning me and my family) are supposed to be participating in. I get there and suddenly find out I can't where headphones during the event..which turns out to be riding around streets such as Dam Neck, Indian River Raod, and just about everything in between WITHOUT TRAFFIC BEING BLOCKED OFF! So after I've gone about three miles, into the wind, on very little sleep, with cars shooting by at 55 miles an hour a few inches to my left and no music to keep me from growing bored too quickly, I completely forgot why I wanted to come in the first place and just rode my bike back to the house rather than following the planned route. Then I go to my regular noon and 1:00 karate classes in which nothing interesting was happening. Get home, get online for a little while, then off to work.
This evening: I've spent sitting here staring dully at the computer while my internet time slips by and nothing of interest whatsoever is happening. Oh well. I guess I'll go read until I can't keep my eyes open any more. I've got nothing better to do. No one seems able to carry a conversation with me tonight and its only a matter of time until my dad realizes my internet time has run out. Meh! Overbearing parents. :/
Damn! I was gonna post an excerpt from a convo I had with Annie about sleep and boredom in lieu of my usual lyric excerpt, but I accidently closed out the window and lost it!
Oh wait... Bobbacca: do you still have the same window open as before? SiKO stalker144: yeah.. Bobbacca: resend me the first few lines of this convo... problem solved!
Bobbacca: What's up? SiKO stalker144: not much SiKO stalker144: i'm contemplating sleep Bobbacca: sleep is for the weak....or the bored :-P SiKO stalker144: haha SiKO stalker144: i am both ...a little later... Bobbacca: well, I guess I'm weak too :-P Bobbacca: see you around
